You’re Mexican!?
She quipped, her hair gleaming bright,
unaware of the weight her words would ignite. she shared sitting on her chair
shocked not knowing if she was joking or not I thought I was in a reality TV show
on John Quiñones what will you do?
waiting for the hidden cameras
to pop up any moment! so Unglamorous
waiting for people to shutter in silence
gasps and eyeless
yet there was nothing…
the thing that really put me in shock was not the question... but as if Columbus, once claiming lands
new "discovered" a truth I already knew
but then only thing she did was make me feel like I was not supposed to be in this world it felt unreal or should I say a part of that rooms world
the world that those kids could do no wrong
the world that those kids have straight A’s
the world that those kids that go to top universities
like if I had no chance to be a part of that world no
like I was not apart of their world I curled
